What you'll learn

  • Navigating Minecraft Education and the built-in Code Builder workspace
  • Programming the Agent to move, build, mine, and farm on command
  • Block coding fundamentals: events, loops, conditionals, and variables
  • Working with coordinates and thinking in three dimensions
  • Writing functions so code gets reused instead of repeated
  • Automating large structures that would take hours to place by hand
  • Making the switch from blocks to typed JavaScript or Python in the same editor
  • Planning, testing, and debugging a finished project world

Who this course is for

No prior experience required. A great fit for students ages 8 and up, especially those who already play Minecraft and want to find out what is happening under the blocks.

It also works well as a next step after Scratch, and as a gentle on-ramp toward Python or JavaScript, since Code Builder lets a student switch between blocks and text in the same project.

Minecraft Education is a separate Microsoft product from regular Minecraft and needs its own account. We'll walk you through getting set up before the first lesson, and we can run the trial on our license so you can see the course before sorting anything out.
